Solicitors, Charles Lucas & Marshall have completed a deal which sees one of London's famous public houses change ownership.
'The Pride of Paddington', a stone's throw from Paddington Station has been acquired by pub entrepreneur, Will Clayton.
Charles Lucas & Marshall solicitors, Julie Lloyd and Peter Billyard provided commercial property and corporate legal support to Mr Clayton, orchestrating the transfer of control of the company, from leaseholders, Gresham Inns, to Mr Clayton. They also advised on negotiations with the pub's licensee, Scottish & Newcastle.
Swindon accounting firm, Accounting for Hospitality, led by partner, Mike Marsh, provided financial advice.
Mr Clayton, who owns and manages a number of pubs in the Greater London area, plans to refurbish 'The Pride of Paddington' and apply for planning permission to turn the upstairs floor into a hotel.
The pub dates back to the early 20th century and is a regular watering hole for rail travellers and commuters.
"We have developed a very successful business model for pub businesses in London and, despite the recession, trade is holding up well," said Will Clayton. "There is great potential for good location pubs, offering the right blend of food and accommodation services."
