| Newbury Family Appeal for ex-colleagues to help with asbestos claim | |
![]() Mr Holmes The wife of a Newbury man who died from an asbestos-related disease is appealing to former work colleagues to come forward and help in their claim against Rutherford Laboratories.
Michael Holmes who lived at Kiln Close, Hermitage, died from mesothelioma cancer caused by coming into contact with asbestos dust.
His wife Julia and sons, Anthony and Andrew Holmes are now anxious to speak to former colleagues who may be able to provide more information as to the exact nature of Mr Holmes' work.
Mr Holmes worked at Rutherford Appleton Laboratories at Didcot as an experimental officer from 1963 until May 1989. It is believed that while he was there he was involved with the cutting of Sindanyo boards containing asbestos, working with asbestos tapes and working near steam pipes lagged with asbestos.
The family's solicitor, Brigitte Chandler of Charles Lucas & Marshall and one of the UK's leading legal specialists in asbestos-related disease, says Mr Holmes died from an asbestos related disease in January 2003.
"All calls will be treated with the utmost confidence" she says. We are particularly keen to speak to colleagues Len Appleby, Trevor Smith, Harry Lane, Terry Harper, Ray Haylehurst and John Nesbitt as Mr Holmes worked closely with them.
“This is a disease which can strike many years after exposure.”
Anyone who may be able to help Mrs Holmes should contact Brigitte Chandler on 01793 511055 or brigitte.chandler@clmlaw.co.uk
