| Ex-Railway Worker Appeals for Stoke Witnesses To Help With Asbestos Claim | |
![]() Mr Griffiths A former Stoke railway worker who is suffering from a serious asbestos-related disease is appealing to former work colleagues to come forward and help in his claim against British Rail.
Roy Griffiths, aged 69, who now lives in Hampton, Middlesex joined the railway works in Stoke on Trent in 1953 and was initially working as an engine cleaner in what was known as the Round House.
He spent 18 months cleaning locomotives which came in each day for servicing. He believes his asbestos-related cancer can be linked to the asbestos which was over the boilers of the locomotives.
Mr Griffiths’ solicitor, Brigitte Chandler of Charles Lucas & Marshall and one of the UK's leading legal specialists in asbestos-related disease, says asbestos was widespread throughout the railway industry from the 1940s onwards.
“The symptoms of asbestos-related illnesses can take between ten to 60 years to emerge,” says Brigitte Chandler. “Mr Griffiths now wants to pursue a claim against British Rail and we are very anxious to contact ex-colleagues who worked in the Round House in Stoke in the 1950s and 1960s.”
Anyone who may be able to help Mr Griffiths should contact Brigitte Chandler on 01793 511055 or brigitte.chandler@clmlaw.co.uk
