| Welcome to Governement U-Turn on Home Information Packs | |
![]() Neil Angel Solicitors, Charles Lucas & Marshall have welcomed the Government’s decision that Home Condition Reports will no longer be a mandatory requirement within Home Information Packs.
Home Information Packs (HIPs) are scheduled to be introduced next summer and will include title information, searches and an energy efficient report.
Sellers will no longer have to include a Home Condition Report which would have cost them several hundred pounds to produce.
The Government is also considering whether to remove the need to delay the marketing of a property while the HIP is prepared. Critics had feared this would slow down the house buying process.
“The Government seems to have responded to many of the concerns raised over HIPs,” says Neil Angel, head of Charles Lucas & Marshall’s Residential Property team.
“HIPs will now be far more cost effective for the consumer and should prove less disruptive.
“Certainly we will be able to produce high quality HIPs very quickly for our clients and we will be integrating them within the wider conveyancing process.”
